The Amphitheater Public School District is always looking to recognize its great teachers and support staff in the District. One of the ways Amphitheater does this is through its Distinguished Service Award. Once a month, one certified employee and one classified employee is honored after being nominated based on four criteria:

Initiative – Members of the school staff demonstrate this criterion by taking positive action to solve problems and striving for professional growth.

Collaboration – This criterion is demonstrated when staff show excellent communication skills with co-workers and parents to help create a better learning environment.

Loyalty – Amphi staff show their loyalty by conducting themselves with high levels of professionalism and showing support for the district.

Contribution – Staff are recognized for their contribution when they promote positive morale while striving to improve student learning and support the AMPHI district!

Nominees must have been employed by the school district for at least five years.

One of March’s honorees for the Distinguished Service Award was Julius Hernandez, a security guard at Amphi Middle School. Mr. Hernandez has worked with the school since 2012 and is known for carrying his speaker around playing music and cheering up students. He is a great example of staff doing things the AMPHI way to create a great learning environment.

March’s other Distinguished Service Award honoree was John Willis. Mr. Willis has been with the District for 24 years and wears many hats, including special education facilitator, 504 coordinator, equipment manager, and activities manager. John has had a large influence on students and his co-workers through his ability to connect with them and promote positivity.
