Green Bay, WI – July 27, 2020 – The Department of Defense (DoD), in coordination with the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), signed a $2.75 million contract award with NPS to increase domestic production of meltblown fiber.

Meltblown filtration media is a critical commodity component to produce N95 respirators and ASTM rated surgical masks. This investment by the U.S. government will enable NPS to domestically produce the meltblown filtration media that will support production of up to an estimated 60 million N95 respirators per month or 170 million surgical masks per month by November 2021. To meet this increased production capacity, NPS will install a new Meltblown fiber line in its Green Bay, Wisconsin, facility, ensuring a sustainable domestic supply chain of meltblown filtration media.

“We are excited and honored to have received the DoD award.  NPS will do its utmost to help our country fight Covid-19 by manufacturing the best meltblown filtration material needed for ASTM rated face masks and N95 respirators.  We look forward to helping our Nation’s security interests when this machine starts up by providing badly needed domestic production of meltblown for USA face mask and respirator customers,” said Andrew Hetzel Jr, CEO of NPS.

Founded in 1996 in Green Bay, WI, NPS Corporation is privately held and operates two divisions: Spill Control and Away From Home Towel and Tissue products.  The meltblown polypropylene lines are part of NPS Spill Control, which has grown to become the largest integrated sorbent manufacturer.  With production and distribution facilities in Green, Bay, WI; Chicago, IL; Seattle, WA; Port Arthur, TX; Lexington, TN; and Salt Lake City, UT, NPS Spill Control sells filtration media and spill control products to distribution partners throughout the United States, North America and in over 60 different countries globally.
