Solid Digital Announces Successful Web Design Project For NJASAP
Chicago website design firm Solid Digital recently announced the successful completion of a web design project for the NetJets Association of Shared Aircraft Pilots (NJASAP). Solid Digital stated that it was honored to be able to help NJASAP better fulfill its mission.

Chicago, IL – August 6, 2020 – Solid Digital recently announced the completion of its web design project for NJASAP, an independent pilot labor advocate. During the project, Solid Digital helped NJASAP transform its digital presence to better serve its members. According to Solid Digital, the extensive project involved the design of a new website, updated system/mobile application integration, and the development of forum and union-management software.

Solid Digital outlined its approach to the NJASAP partnership. As a forward-thinking Chicago web design agency, the company begins every web design project with a digital strategy. Solid Digital’s strategy sessions revealed several inherent challenges in the project, namely: determining whether vBulletin (forum software) would support the organization and its goals for at least five more years. Solid Digital stated that it also faced the challenge of determining how users would interface with the union-management software. Solid Digital said that another challenging aspect of the NJASAP web design project was developing a new system that would cause minimal confusion for existing members.

Solid Digital announced that it ultimately decided to replace vBulletin with a newer software called NodeBB. Solid Digital stated that this new forum software provided mobile support natively, allowing TapaTalk support to be removed. The company also mentioned that it created an inventory of all UnionWare integration points with NJASAP’s existing software. Solid Digital was also able to upgrade NJASAP’s existing software to a new Aptify system on its website, NodeBB, and mobile application.

Solid Digital provided additional information about the process of migrating vBulletin to NodeBB. According to Solid Digital, NJASAP’s existing vBulletin database was around 8 GB large and had nearly a million posts – on tens of thousands of topics – from thousands of users. Solid Digital shared that one of the main challenges of the migration was the sheer size of the database. Solid Digital stated that, as a company with extensive experience providing web design in Chicago, it was prepared for this large-scale migration. The company reported that it was able to successfully migrate the two systems.

Solid Digital also provided further information on the challenge of mobile app integration. According to Solid Digital, NJASAP’s mobile app existed before the project began and it contained a lot of legacy code and features. Solid Digital mentioned that the existing mobile app had various connections to the UniionWare software and included a functionality that did not yet exist in Aptify. Solid Digital shared that – working with the Aptify team – it was able to implement the required features and update the mobile application to utilize the new system and remove all UnionWare connection points.
