The inspiration behind these innovative glasses stems from Viagea designer MJ Lee’s own struggles with 3 pairs of glasses – one for prescription, one for daily UV care and the other for sports. Lee has a penchant for traveling and she realized that it was becoming quite a burden for her to carry multiple pairs of glasses every time she had to travel. She wanted to contain them all in one box to save space and travel light. It led her to deconstruct her glasses, looking at each separate element and examining its function. She soon discovered there is a need for a totally new joint system which would be able to hold all the other connecting elements together and assure internal stability – yet without the need of screws. And thus, the formless yet interchangeable Viagea eyewear was born.
