Pregnancy Centers of Middle Tennessee Holds A Virtual Fundraising Event

Columbia, Tennessee To strengthen its commitment to journey with mothers and fathers as they navigate the gift of life, the Pregnancy Centers of Middle Tennessee successfully held its virtual fundraiser for this year, Together We Choose Love

Produced by Frank Byers of Thumbprint Productions, this virtual event is filled with inspiring stories of love, faith, and hope; stories made possible by the generosity of volunteers, staff, church partners, and donors who continue to help the Pregnancy Centers of Middle Tennessee fulfill its mission: to affirm the value of life by providing a network of care to those experiencing a pregnancy-related crisis.

A pregnancy-related crisis can mean different things, according to Joanne Coogan, Nurse Manager at the Pregnancy Centers of Middle Tennessee. It could be a woman with two older children and she does not have the resources to support another child. It could be a woman in her 40s who feels she’s not ready to be a mother yet again in this season of her life, or it could be a woman faced with the prospect of raising a child in less than ideal circumstances.

“We see the hardship. But that’s where we just have to trust God. That He’s going to take these babies and He’s going to do what He chooses… it’s not our choice.”

For women who remain undecided about their pregnancy, Joanne says, “I am praying and hoping that you choose life. But if you don’t, we are not going to love you less. Because Jesus did not love us less for all the sins we commit.” These women will always find a welcoming home at the Pregnancy Centers of Middle Tennessee and can find a pregnancy center by searching online for “pregnancy center near me”.

“So many of us sit in silence and shame thinking we’re unworthy. Or we look at other people and think they can be thrown away because they’re unworthy. But it is simply not the way Jesus does things. He looks with love and compassion in the eyes of every person,” shares Jennifer Walden, the event’s keynote speaker and long-time pregnancy center champion. To date, Jennifer and her husband Kirk have partnered with pregnancy centers across the United States to raise more than $45 million for the cause of life.

With locations in Columbia and Spring Hill, the Pregnancy Centers of Middle Tennessee provides support and practical assistance for women during and after pregnancy. All services are free of charge and include the following: pregnancy testing, life-affirming limited ultrasounds, accurate and complete information on pregnancy, parenting, adoption, abstinence, and abortion; medical and social service referrals, post-abortion peer counseling, speakers for churches and civic organizations, material assistance for mother and baby, parenting classes, and prenatal and childbirth education.

Just as important as the practical assistance is the emotional support pregnancy centers provide.

“Being pregnant and feeling rejected and unloved… just to have someone hug you, to have someone share their own past experiences and how God was faithful to help them get through something major like an unplanned pregnancy is one of the ways I feel the pregnancy center can really help,” says Kelley Boyd, who has supported pregnancy centers for over 20 years.

“I think the pregnancy center is doing a wonderful job of guiding young women to better options to be able to have a better future not only for themselves but for their children,” shares Camille Gardner, a mother of three girls whose life was transformed by the Pregnancy Centers of Middle Tennessee.

“Just because you made a bad choice… you don’t have to make another bad choice on top of that. The Spirit of forgiveness and redemption is not so much about what you did in the past, it’s what you do next that’s really important.” – Dr. John

To make these choices sometimes requires outside resources and assistance. Contributions, no matter how big or small, help the Pregnancy Centers of Middle Tennessee provide the support that ultimately saves a baby’s life.

“It takes money to staff these incredible facilities that hold the hands of every person in an unplanned pregnancy,” says Jennifer.

“What has God given you that in turn, you can give to this cause? I think it’s the time for us to rise and say, ‘What would you have me do with the incredible resources I’ve been given to help in this important cause of life?’”
