Adversities are always a part of one’s journey in life but a person’s reaction to the difficult moment determines success. Brad Butler II is a man who has taken a few nasty hits from life, but unlike most people, he didn’t stay down. He got back on his feet and learned to thrive. Today, Brad is the CEO of Brad Butler II & Associates LLC. He is also a motivational speaker, an educational consultant, a student advocate, a success coach, and a published author. Brad delights in sharing his life journey with others, of how he made lemonade out of life’s sour lemon.
Growing up, Brad had a difficult childhood, struggling with his parents’ drug abuse, academics, and criticism from friends and family. For a momentary escape from his life’s troubles, Brad found his solace in football, dedicating himself to the sport so much that his passion shone through and earned him the nickname “B-Rad” from family, friends, and fans.Just when he was starting to find a root, Brad’s parents suddenly separated, and he was uprooted at the young age of eight from his childhood home in the inner city of Jersey City to move to the suburban area of East Windsor. The sudden transition greatly affected Brad and his academics so much that he ended up in Special Education Classes.
Channeling all his anger and disappointments into motivation, Brad poured himself into his football games, building strength and stamina as well as developing a formidable character. More than just an escape, football became a career for Brad, and he played the sport right from elementary school to college. Not too long after that, Brad got his associate degree in Fine Arts at Mercer County Community College and finally a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Kean University.
Wanting to give back to society, Brad decided to inspire others who still struggle to find a footing in life by sharing his story. He became a motivational speaker, spending the last five years traveling to share his stories with young people, especially student-athletes. Brad’s primary goal is to help individuals identify their unique gifts, gain confidence, and live a fulfilled life no matter how humble their beginnings. A simple motto that has dramatically impacted Brad’s life and which he currently lives by is: “Make your next day, your best day.”
