Pat enrolled at Griffin Technological College School of Cosmetology in 1993, hardworking and determined but still poor with her first daughter LaPorsha, to combine her lifetime passion for hair with her ambition to build success. Working at a dry cleaner for less than minimum wage and eventually receiving public assistance were not possibilities for her heirs. She founded her first salon, “Touched by an Angel,” as a graduation gift to herself, armed with passion and the belief that hard effort pays off. The first intention was to just build a low-cost full-service beauty salon in Jonesboro, Georgia. Pat came up with the concept of manufacturing affordable and long-lasting hair extensions after two years of operation, which became known as “the $50 weaves.” Pat’s ingenious $50 weave design gained traction in salons across the country.
