Florida Tattoo Academy’s Tarpon Springs’ 2020 Graduating Class Lands Jobs in Under Two Weeks, Post COVID-19

Students find employment immediately after graduating from Florida Tattoo Academy.
Out of the fourteen students who graduated from Florida Tattoo Academy in Tarpon Springs, ten landed jobs within the first two weeks after graduation. That is 71% of the students obtaining employment after graduation.

Tampa Bay, FL, USA – October 7, 2020 – The Tampa Bay area’s tattoo industry continues to require properly trained and talented artists.  Out of the two classes that graduated in September 2020 from the Florida Tattoo Academy: one had eight students led by Tattoo instructor Geno Orta. The other, led by Tattoo instructor Johnny Maggard, had six students. Out of the fourteen students that graduated, ten landed jobs within the first two weeks after graduation. That is 71% of the students obtaining employment after graduation.

The tattoo industry has seen increased demand since many customers are forced to wait for shops to reopen again. On a side note, the tattoo industry is one of the few sectors requiring customers and employees to regularly wear masks, even pre COVID-19, so masks and tattoos are not new.

The graduating students at Florida Tattoo Academy are put through a 200-hour course that shows them everything they need to know to perform quality tattoos and get licensed to be a tattoo artist by the State of Florida. This includes close to sixty hours working on real human skin with tattoo machines. The level of experience a student gets by going through the academy is very similar to a two-year apprentice program, and this can be done in eleven weeks.

Florida Tattoo Academy is the only Department of Education licensed Tattoo School in the Tampa Bay Area. The school is also expanding its Tarpon Springs location to occupy more space to have more room to lead advanced-level courses and seminars.

Enrollment Director, Angelo Kotzamanis, has noticed an increase in applicants since the school relocated from the sponge docs to its current location at 39922 US Hwy 19 N, Tarpon Springs, FL 34689 in June of 2020. Angelo had just decided to relocate the school during the COVID-19 outbreak. Even though the school was forced to be closed during Phase 1, he used the downtime to expand and be ready to train and educate new artists once the new location could be open.
