Taoyuan Airport Returns to Normal Operations as Taiwan Ends Mandatory Quarantine on Oct 13

Since 13 October 2022, Taiwan has ended the mandatory quarantine policy and adopted instead the “7 Days Self-Health Management” policy. Taoyuan International Airport accordingly implemented the “0+7” entry policy on the same day. That means normal clearance procedure has been resumed; asymptomatic inbound passengers are now able to take public transportation, including meter-billing taxis. Service facilities in the terminal such as observation decks also work around normal hours, restoring their pre-pandemic state.

Mr. Hsiao-lun Fan, CEO of Taoyuan International Airport Corporation (TIAC), said that during the pandemic, Taoyuan Airport spared no effort in following Covid-prevention policies strictly while continued the construction of software and hardware. Now, a new Taoyuan Airport is ready to welcome passengers: there is no health certificate review, no redirection lines and indicators, no dining and shopping restrictions for inbound passengers. Public service facilities such as shower rooms and outdoor smoking rooms are opened again; the Observatories are also available to the public between 6:30 to 22:30 daily. To get to Taoyuan Airport, asymptomatic passengers can take the airport MRT, shuttle bus, taxi, rental car, or self-drive. For more information, please visit the Taoyuan Airport website.

To welcome the passenger traffic, TIAC has coordinated with commercial service providers to enlarge their operation scale gradually. Business hours of some stores, shortened due to the pandemic, will be extended while key counters will resume their pre-pandemic business hours, from 6:00 to 23:00. Together with 24-hour convenience stores and fast-food providers, the duty free retailors are able to cater for the dining and shopping requirements of tourists.

In response to the increase in business and leisure travel, TIAC encourages outbound passengers to make good use of services such as internet check-in, in-town check-in or self-service check-in in the terminals, as well as self-baggage drop and e-gates to reduce unnecessary contact. To maintain public health, Taoyuan Airport still requires passengers to wear masks when entering and leaving the airport. The airport give each arrival passenger 4 sets of Rapid Test Kits for use during the self-health management period.

Taiwan’s border reopening will eventually usher in recovery and prosperity. Taoyuan Airport stands to provide returning passengers with best services in the post-pandemic era, hopefully to leave them with moving memories.

As the flow of people at the airport rebounds, the airport company has also coordinated with commercial service providers to gradually restore the original operating scale to meet the dining and shopping needs of tourists.
